If someone asked you if your internet business had any great asset, what would you say?  The most successful marketers will tell you that their list is the single greatest asset; that is why you see so many list building products popping up like crazy (Inside the List).

If you’re new the game you may ask, why is the list important?  Why is not knowing SEO, PPC, link building, and the other entire gamma that comes with enough?

The simple answer is the ability to communicate with a customer base or a targeted market base of people over and over is what is so golden about having a good list!

You’ve probably heard of people who say, they made $157,940 in 4 days!  And you’re simply thinking, what a scammer.  But think about this a moment; what if he has a list the size of a small suburb just north of Chicago (Evanston – population 74,239).

As he emails this list of 74 thousand plus people, he emails them an offer to buy a tiny small ebook that cost just $25 bucks!  Let’s suppose just 10% of that list buys his excellent offer, let’s crunch these numbers.

Ten percent is 7423 (roughly) and multiply that by 25 bucks and you get a whopping $185,575.  Well over the $157 grand in the example above.  Big name marketers do this all day every day.

You can totally do this to for WHATEVER your niche or crowd is.  Let me show you how this works, and how magical it can be.  Like anything worth anything, you need to have the proper preparation.  Don’t think you went to four years of high school, and some another 4 years in college, then all of the sudden you’re going to put together the magical list. It takes skills and preparation.  The first step is to build an asset first – a list of customers’ email addresses that is.

You will need to have a lead capturing web-page, also known in the industry as a squeeze page, in order for you to do that.

The difficult part to this is how you essentially get people to opt-in to your list with their email addresses.

One of the best ways is to give away a special informative bonus for free in return of their email addresses! You know something they definitely want and would pay a buck or two to get.  Don’t stop there.

You’ll still need to make your free-gift irresistible that it’s too good to refuse.  I call it the “house on the hills with a free Bentley for $97 bucks” offer!  Who wouldn’t take that without strings attached?

Here are 5 ways to make your free gift more enticing.

1. Show them the benefits - Tell them about the return they can get from your free gift… (you could give away an e-book, a video, special report, discount voucher… etc)

2. “Market Price” at a very high price – Let your prospects know the market price if they didn’t grab it free here. But of course, you are giving it to them for free. (People love get something while it’s free)

3. Attract your customers with visuals - Let them see a glimpse of what they are getting.  A good visual can get them salivating… It could be an image of a training video, an e-cover or a dvd… etc.

4. Create Urgency for your free offer – If people can sit on their tush, they won’t make decision, so for your customers you want to make it a limited time so they take action immediately.

5. Exercising scarcity – Set a limit to the number of copies you are giving away for free. People are afraid of missing out. The fear of loss also encourages your customers to take action fast.
